The top 2 Wild Card finishers should play a 1 game playoff for the 4th spot to provide a stronger incentive to compete for the division title. This seems stupid because should the Yankees/Rays also-ran this year really be screwed out of the playoffs this year by a 1 game playoff assuming they win the wild card by 6 games?
